I dream of sleep haiku

New year, and I still cannot post the haiku post on-time. At least, when I started, it was still Sunday. That has to count for something. Lately it seems like no matter how much sleep is had, it's not enough. Funny how that works. Maybe sleep behaves the same way as nutella. It's never enough. More please. The best part is that I'm writing this when I should be sleeping! Lovely ain't it. The other thing to mention during this post is the obscenely cheap eats at Wah Fung No. 1 Fast Food. It was mentioned on Midtown Lunch last year when Zach was down in Chinatown for jury duty. I've actually been going there for a while, even before they raised the prices to $2.50.... Dog whisperer haiku

This week's haiku was inspired by the Dog Whisperer. Not too sure why the word 'whisper' is even in the magnetic poetry set of words, and I'm not going to argue with it. It works. It's random. It's a haiku! Yesssss. This week was clean the hard drive and look for old photos week or something. The rest of the post contains a couple of pictures from this random bakery in the Detroit area. If you're in the mood for a real entry, I did a guest post about Carl's Cheesesteak for Steph. Have a read if you want, and yes it's in English.... [Continue reading]

no-yellow-snow

Real hot chocolate and snow haiku

Sometimes when you're constructing a haiku on your fridge at midnight, you kind of uh... forget how to do it coherently. I resorted to the familiar, and wrote about yellow snow. It hasn't snowed in New York yet but folks... just eat the white stuff. No yellow snow and for goodness sake, definitely not any other color either. Ew. Last week on Serious Eats they had a section about 12 days of hot chocolate. This past weekend I got some hot chocolate from Batch, the Pichet Ong bakery in the West Village.... [Continue reading]

pork-stew-haiku

Pork stew haiku and pork floss

Last night I looked on the fridge and boom! A haiku was already made for me! I'm not sure who made the haiku but much thanks. This week I'm way behind! Posting a haiku on Wednesday... Gotta get on schedule with these things. Hopefully this weekend will be better. If you read the haiku you might be a little confused about what it means. Uh... can't help you there because I didn't write it and it sort of confused me too. That's ok, we'll just chalk it up to incoherent poetry because after all, half of that Shakespeare shit is just nuts anyway.... [Continue reading]

winter-hot-chocolate

Hot chocolate haiku

Are you feeling all holiday-y now? All the special Chrisma-hanau-kwanza-kah feeling that's in the air, and also on Starbucks's annoying playlist is already starting to grate on my nerves. I just want to sit down somewhere warm, drink a hot chocolate without worrying about bad music. Yes, just some hot chocolate in peace and quiet and warmth. This week's haiku is about hot chocolate because it's on my mind. Speaking of sweet things, a couple of weeks ago I wrote about a $10 dollar dessert run for Midtown Lunch. You can go read it and tell me how much I suck.... [Continue reading]
