New York Wine and Food Festival
This past Saturday I was lucky enough to attend a Grand Tasting Event at the New York Wine & Food Festival. If you haven't heard much about this festival in previous years, it's because this was the first year of the festival in New York. Previously it was in Miami. All the net proceeds go towards helping Food Bank NYC and the Share Our Strength foundation. It's good fun for a good cause. And I would have written about this earlier as a good blogger should, but I caught a disease. That disease is called Fantasy Basketball. You might not have known about this but it sucks away your free time and totally consumes you. I know this is not a fake illness because Jonathan told me it's true. He's a doctor and he's staying at a Holiday Inn Express right now. So I'll brave the symptoms of Fantasy basketball (sweaty palms, extreme anxiousness towards the start of the NBA season), and tell you about all the New York Wine & Food Festival.

Jim Lahey and NYCE
The New York Culinary Experience was this past weekend. It was a cozy event with about 100 attendees, and I was able to join in on a bread class on Sunday morning. Jim Lahey of Sullivan Street Bakery here in New York City. Most of the classes this past weekend had 24 participants, but for a no-knead bread class at 9am on Sunday? Two participants. It was a small and intimate. I prefer sleeping in on Sundays, but I had a blast getting up early and listening to Jim talk about bread.

A party and a harvest
Lately I've had this thing where things happen in bunches. But since I can't really have separate food events in their separate posts, they'll just both converge here. A few days ago I read about the Edible Manhattan magazine launch party. It sounded cool, and for $10 dollars, probably the cheapest party you could find with food and booze. And the second half of this post will focus on Harvest on the Square, which was a fund raiser for Union Square. The ticket for that was north of $100. I couldn't afford that one, but even from the outside, it was a good time.

Coffee and free food
Yes, once again I am way way way late on the haiku. Hey, sometimes you gotta enjoy your weekend you know? This week the haiku is from... someone. It was there on the fridge when I got home on Sunday, and it was awesome. Not gonna lie, I barely drink coffee even though I love the taste. You notice how coffee addicts behave when there's no coffee around for a whole day? Craaaazy. No sir, I don't wanna be like that at all. Sometimes all you need is a jolt in the morning to wake you up. There's nothing like being half asleep in the morning and sipping coffee to wake up. Ah... I gotta learn to love it.

A day late
You know the thing about posting on Sunday is that if the weather is really nice, you just want to leave the apartment and NOT post. Oops. This has to stop! I need to make an effort to be more on top of it. I was also feeling a little bit lazy, luckily my roommate's boyfriend (Justin, thanks!) came through again with another haiku. This is the great thing about having roommates, because you come home and all of a sudden there is a haiku on the fridge. It is like magic, but more poetic. The apartment is like a refuge for foodie Shakespeares, dusted with iambic pentameter and couplets. Sometimes, we will even make the haikus suitable for little kids (which means I did not write it), and we always have to think about the kids, right?

Atlantic Antic 2007
The Atlantic Antic was yesterday, September 30, 2007. It was a great day to take a stroll and take pictures, so I did just that. Here is your photographic recap of antic 2007 in Brooklyn Heights.

Ulysses Oyster Festival
This past Saturday there was an oyster festival downtown by Stone St. I cannot recall any instances in the past where I consumed raw oysters, and this seemed like a good enough reason to give it a shot. Stone street was pretty packed by the time I had gotten there and the party was in full swing.
