White Bear
Flushing, NY
"Oddly enough, I like this dish when it's not spicy. The chili oil they used at White Bear was really tame, and that's the way I like 'em for this dish. You don't really want it to burn out your tongue because the wontons are too delicate."
"We shared one order of the wontons with hot sauce ($4.50), easily the most beautiful dish of the day. A dozen delicate pork-stuffed wontons neatly packed in a take-away tray, topped with chopped scallion, bits of pickled ginger, chili pepper goo, and lots and lots of fluorescent orange hot oil."
"plenty of dumplings, including some wonderful pork-packed wontons with hot sauce."
"White Bear can kill it in any city in America, in any goddamn neighborhood."
"For once, I'm gonna be one of those assholes who throws around the term 'best'. These are the best fucking dumplings in the city. Feel free to disagree. In which case I only have one question for you - how does it feel to be completely and utterly wrong? Probably awful."
