Momofuku Milk Bar
(between 12th St & 13th St)
New York, NY
"If you don't know why Anderson Cooper is the crack (pie) lover, just check out the Serious Eats:NY post about it. Apparently on the Regis and Kelly show, Anderson professed his love for crack (pie) and wanted to give some to everyone in the audience."
"I really like the cakes from Milk Bar—as you can tell, they're a bit..intense, generally composed of flavor combinations you wouldn't find anywhere else, and are on the heavy side."
"The unexpected this was that one of the employees recognized me (not as a blogger but pretty much a regular) that he comped us three cookies – blueberry cream, cornflake-marshmallow-chocolate chip cookie, and corn. As usual, they’re buttery and a bit greasy but they’re delicious. Again, we’re getting a food/sugar coma that we’ve saved some for Helen."
"Not every single thing at the Milk Bar is a winner, although I think this is definitely one of them. Anderson Cooper apparently loves this stuff. Can't blame the guy though. Hard to find good pies in Manhattan these days."
"Since moving to the East Village from the Lower East Side, I miss being able to grab a pineapple bun on Grand on the way to work. I often forget though that Milk Bar is right in my hood and on the way to the train station as long as I deviate a block or two. Sure, the price difference is massive, but why cry over a pineapple bun when you can have a Volcano?!"
