Pork chops that are still excellent
Excellent Pork Chop House has fallen on many lists of best places to get pork chop over rice in New York. The NKOTB is Hua Ji, which I respect and enjoy. They're not as centrally located in Chinatown as the EPCH. Even in the face of new competition, Excellent Pork Chop House is still really awesome. They're still got one of the best bowls going on because the proportion of pork chop to meat sauce to pickled mustard greens is still pretty wicked.
I've been wondering about restaurants versus being a human being. See, I've been told that my company might lay off like 2.5% to 5% of the company before years end. Guess what?! It's almost years end! Great, right? And when I look at job postings now, there's actually a lot of jobs. The key to finding new web development jobs is improvement, and knowing all the new shit that comes out every six months. Do restaurants do that? Do they say, "Oh the other new pork chop over rice place deep fries their shit, but they double fry, so we should deep fry, but to order, and then we'll kick their ass?" If the perfect pork chop over rice doesn't exist, there's at least a version that'll be more widely popular than another version? Are restaurants worried about being laid off as a restaurant?
I'm not sure if owners of Excellent Pork Chop House lose any sleep over their competition, but I'm sure it's not easy being a restaurant. They probably won't switch up their version of the pork chop, and I'm ok with it. Even though detractors have shifted over to Hua Ji, I still maintain that Excellent Pork Chop House takes the top prize in the world of pork chop over rice. You still can't go wrong here. I hope that there's enough consumers to keep both business alive and well.

to think all i had for lunch was a crappy chicken patty from trader joe's. not that i thought it was crappy when i was eating it, but after looking at that juicy pork porn, i feel ill-used.

@caskann,
i had lunch from TJs too, and it was also underwhelming. Some stuff from there are great but sometimes... shit, I dunno. It's good to know others out there appreciate juicy pork porn though.

I still think the wonton with the spicy oil are the best thing at EPCH..... So good....

Danny - next week: you, me, porkchops. We're doing this. Although I still will defend that Hua Ji is superior to the death.

Danny, if you go to EPCH, you really have to go for the chicken leg, which is better than the pork chop, and maybe the best chicken leg around (as of a year or so ago). I agree though, what makes them good is the meat sauce, the greens, and the proportions.

@FN,
I'm with you on the wontons in spicy oil. Last time we went the wontons were like on steroids, it's like they changed the recipe of the wonton. They were ginormous. I shoulda taken a picture of that too.
@Nick,
Let's dooooo this!
@LUNCH,
Ah, yes, the chicken leg. Yes, I do agree that's a mighty fine piece of leg, and a terrific meal. For me there's just something nostalgic about the pork chop over rice thing. Takes me back and everything. I love the chicken leg too though. Maybe a good order for me is pork chop over rice with a side of chicken... oh man..
