Delicious donuts at Dough
A Dough donut is the sun! It is my lady! O, it is my love! Sometimes it is better to turn to someone more eloquent with words. These doughnuts are some of the best in NY and they are serious. More serious than Kemba Walking in crunch time. The delicious nature of the Dough donuts are unwavering even on the second day. If you go on a doughnut eating binge like I've been doing, you learn to appreciate the awesome ones at Dough.
For a place called Dough, it's no surprise that the dough is distinct from many generic doughnuts. When I first started on the passion fruit flavor donut, I was caught off guard by two things. The first was the frosting. It felt like they must have inserted real passion fruit on top of the sweet dessert, but it was just an average coating of frosting. The intensity of the flavor was pleasant. The second thing I noticed was that it felt different as I chewed through it. Maybe it's just because the batter was really awesome or because it's such a ginormous donut. Either way, I really liked it.
The hibiscus donut was less successful for my amateur taste buds. I don't even know what hibiscus is. Apparently it's a flower (so says bing). The donut didn't taste like a flower. It simply reminded me of a citrus fruit. It was tart, tasty, albeit mysterious.
Dough is located in what I like to call a rough part of town. Although I'm sure lots of people live in that part of town, since this is NYC and everyone lives everywhere. Clinton Hill area of Brooklyn is where Dough resides. And anytime I see young men in their teens/20s standing on a corner, I think about The Wire and corner boys. I wonder if there's a Bodie in there somewhere. Crime is down in NY or so says CBS, so it's not like rough neighborhoods are all that terrible. It's just something I noticed, and I wish gentrification could speed up sometimes.

A friend of mine has been raving about that hibiscus doughnut. I'll make the trek to Dough when you decide to finally join me for a train ride the Greenpoint for PETER PAN.

Yes, I too hope that more yuppie doughnut shops will crop up in Bed Stuy and eventually price minorities out of their homes.
I'm sure if you were in Park Slope and saw a group of white teenagers on the corner you'd be equally distressed, right?

@James,
haha funny you should mention that. I'll have a post about that soon too!
@blank person,
haha again. funny you should mention that. I in fact did use to live in Park Slope and lived across from a corner where a bunch of riff raff crackers hung out all the time. They too were fucking annoying. So fuck you motherfucker.
