Mee goreng for half off is just ok
What if I told you that I had a delicious lunch for $4.36, but when you read this and you go, you have to pay $8.72? That's fucked up, right? See I still can't get over the whole thing where bloggers get something for free to sample and then tell people it's aight. I don't care if you're the biggest blog out there and you sample all sorts of cookies and you can differentiate which one of the samples actually is the best. Still don't count til you buy some. What happened today was this: I visited some coupon website that had Satay Junction food for 50% off. I'm also not going to tell you which one because I'm not here to promote any coupon sites unless they wanna show me the money. Sorry.
It's probably difficult to get Mee Goreng for $4 dollars anywhere in the city, but to get it on Greenwich Avenue in the West Village, it's a pretty sweet deal. The description on Satay Junction's website says Mee Goreng is stir-fried flat noodles. The noodles in my take-out container weren't flat noodles, but it's a minor detail. The major note about my mee goreng with chicken was that it was hard to find the chicken. And I'm willing to bet you can easily find better versions of mee goreng elsewhere in New York.
The only redeeming part of the meal was that they included some really awesome shrimp chips. You don't see that included in many take-out meals, so that was really a plus.
I was critical of the price of subs at No. 7 Sub. But now that I think about it, a $9 dollar sandwich in the Flatiron is better than an $8 dollar mee goreng in the West Village.
