Desserts at Golden Unicorn

When you have dim sum at Golden Unicorn in Chinatown, you can get some awesome desserts. I thought the best way to sum it up would be to offer these desserts in poetry form (and no, not like how I used to...) So without further ado I present the desserts:

There once were some baos shaped like boobies,
steamed and round like ones in the movies.
I petted the outside,
the consent was implied,
exploring the inside became my duty.

Nai-Huang was the name of this doozy.
You must taste the innards, almost gooey.
Since cream was the filling,
I became caught up in licking,
A custard fan I'm becoming a groupie.

There also were some balls green and shiny.
My mouth watered and lusted to taste wildly.
The balls should be bitten,
to reveal what is hidden.
The middle is some treasure prized highly.

Like lava the sesame cream flowed slightly.
A lick makes your mouth party like Miley.
Deep fried makes 'em greasy,
too much makes you quesy.
It's best to share these with others rightly.

  • You just gave me a major craving for something that's similar to those custard buns...except the custard is inside of a glob of tapioca pearls.

  • 1. this was fucking awesome

    2. bring back haikus, thanks

  • ahah, love it! I agree, bring back the haikus!

  • how were the green tang-yuans (with sesame paste?)?

  • @luvsocks,

    Oooh a glob of tapioca pearls, huh? I haven't seen that before and it sounds super interesting.

    @Nicholas,

    haha, thank you. I might bring haikus back after moving to a new apartment where the fridge is magnetized.

    @Kathy,

    thanks! i'll have to add your vote with Nicholas'. Definitely something I gotta keep in mind going forward.

    @Ang,

    The tang-yuans are a bit greasy from the frying, but it's still pretty awesome since the sesame filling is tasty.

  • One of my favorite blog posts this year Danny. You are hilarious. I would go just based on your poem, but the picture is pretty compelling too!
