Little Cupcake Bakeshop is average and pricey
During the early days of my food blogging, I was really into cupcakes. Sugar Sweet Sunshine remains number one in my heart because they offer up decently sized cupcakes that are delicious and affordable. Seriously at one point I even scrapped off gravel to eat a cupcake. What a weirdo. Cupcakes were a fad for me - cool for a moment but not sustainable in the long run. Of course I ate cupcakes for the blog but sometimes didn't even bother to write about it. I was curious about this new shop opening up in Soho called Little Cupcake Bakeshop. Cute names sometimes don't mean much. After all, everyone these days love Torrisi Italian Specialities. Me thinks they could easily be called, "Bitch, I'm delicious" and still have people be down with their food. After all that's what we want right? To be down with the food. So can I get down with these cupcakes from Little Cupcake Bakeshop?
If you don't know much about the Little Cupcake Bakeshop, try their website for more info. That's what I did and I discovered that they actually have a presence in Brooklyn by Bay Ridge and Fort Hamilton. Finding out that information just made me feel stupid for not knowing about them earlier. If they could go from a shop in Bay Ridge to a shop in Soho, you know they're baller. And a baller bakery should make good cupcakes right?
Unfortunately I thought the cupcake was very average. For $2.75, I could almost get TWO cupcakes at SSS just at ten minute walk away. I suppose part of this is that it's Soho prices. The good thing they got going for them is that the frosting is not overly sweet, which is like the number one thing people like to talk about with cupcakes. I can't tell you how many times I've heard the word "cloyingly." It drives me bananas. I love candy and sugar and cloying is relative. But the annoyingly quality of the word is completely not relative. Whenever neurons in my brain try to process that idea, they stop and tell me, "fool, ain't nothing too sweet. You used to eat cheesecake for breakfast, end transmission now." The cake itself was spongy but a lil dry for my tastes. Although I have to say that cupcakes in general get progressively more moist in my mind as they drop in price.
Today is voting day and I'm going to tell you that unless you're living in a place with a really tight race, it's pretty much set in stone that your vote will carry no significance. Regardless, I'm going to be spending time to go to the polling station, although only in part because it's on the way to Target. And man, I love going to Target.

I'm sorry your cupcake was overpriced and average. My cupcakes of choice are from Butter Lane. They have a seasalted chocolate right now that is, IMO, outstanding. But, I admit, not cheap.
Voting! You gotta vote, man. What would happen if everyone decided their vote wasn't going to count? Then nobody would vote, and chaos would reign!

@JJR,
I'll have to go back to Butter Lane again but honestly I've only heard a mixed bag about them. So when it's pricey, I'm always lazy about going back. haha. As for voting, I voted even though it was a huge hassle but if we look at what's an efficient way to spend time, then I'm not sure it matters. The only race that was close here in my district was the NYS comptroller.
@Kimberly,
It's true, them is ballerific :)
