Goat tacos at the Red Hook Ball Fields
Lately I've taken some pleasure in writing about personal shortcomings like how I tip terribly. It's an on-going investigation really, as all good things in life are. Here's a thought I have... standing at the Red Hook Ball Fields eating tacos or sitting down at a restaurant in Chinatown/Flushing... I wonder, "How many illegal immigrants are within one square mile of where I am right now?" Is it possible that every single Latino or Asian person around me either has a proper work/tourist visa, green card, or U.S. citizenship? And what does it say about me if I question these people around me? Who knows? The good news is that I don't spend too much time thinking about it because the food usually provides such a great distration. A couple of weekends ago Steph and I went to get some tacos at the Red Hook Ball Fields and man... they were great. $3 dollars with tax included is a decent price. Sunset Park might still offer the best value, but for the ambiance and the summery setting of eating your tacos on the grass next to a soccer field... well, it's worth it.
We tried two tacos, one goat and one taco al pastor. Pigs are all the rage these days and everyone loves bacon but... man, this goat taco was out of control. It should get more play than a leaked Taylor Swift single. Pour on a little salsa and every bite is awesome. I'm sure the salsas in front of the truck are not DOH-friendly... most open containers in 85 degree heat probably won't be... but whatevs. This won't make you rush to the toilets. It's a shame the line for these tacos are too damn long... so make sure you get more than one.
The tacos al pastor was similarly awesome, but when pegged against the moist goat taco, it simply couldn't compete. I would still recommend it so you get frame of reference between a good taco and an awesome one. The taco truck in question that we visited was the last truck on Clinton st (the truck next to the Country Boys truck).
Summer is coming to a close and there's really nothing better than getting tacos in the sun and washing it down with a tamarind or watermelon aqua fresca and just enjoying life. It really doesn't get any better than this because before you know it, you gonna be wearing scarves soon...

Haha, sometimes I wonder how many white people are in 1 sq mile in Asia or Flushing. These back of the envelope estimates are mind boggling.

@Nicholas,
hahaha, yes I think the real number might be crazy. But in Flushing apparently folks are getting mad that the last 'regular' (white) grocery store is closing. So there is still a big group of them out there. It's just funny because in Flushing on Main st, its like being in a diff country
