I invite David Kamp for some McDonalds
David Kamp might as well work for the National Inquirer. Really. You know that tabloid mag that calls themselves journalists? Yup. Kamp is just like the National Inquirer. Here's the latest blurb covered by Fork in The Road:
"Afterwards, a discussion ensued inspired by questions from the audience. A general disapproval of blogs was espoused, and one panel member predicted that blogs would soon be edited. Maybe just trying to be controversial, Kamp reviled chowhound.com and egullet.com, calling them "insular," but then praised Josh Ozersky and his new blog."
I mean, if David Kamp doesn't know the difference between a posting forum and a blog, then I'm not going to distinguish him as a writer from those who write for the National Inquirer. In fact, why distinguish him from motherfucking douchebags who eat shit? Why should I? He doesn't take the time to acknowledge or understand where the 21st century is going, and I'm not going to acknowledge that there are different kind of writers. In fact the other day I read something written by a 5th grader. Musta been David Kamp's colleague. But since I'm reasonable. Anytime you want Mister Kamp, I'll treat you to a delicious McDonald's meal, face to face, so you can tell me how insular I am. mmmk? Thanks. Motherfucker.
See how nice I am, I even give you food porn along with this rant. But I am getting sick of all this bad talk about 'bloggers' because people like Mario Batali to David Chang to David Kamp it's just so... Seriously, I don't confuse Batali or Chang to the guy who makes my Micky Dee's. And in truth, I don't confuse Kamp with those tabloid journalists. Why? Because... I have a brain?!? OMG!!! What a NOVEL concept. I look to see what is really going on and... get this, I make distinctions. WHOAAAA!!! DUDE!
And that's really the thing that irks me the most: all this bad talk about bloggers and people don't even know what the fuck they're talking about. The bloggers that I've linked on the right hand side of my blog? I've met a few of them and you know, they're good people. They write funny and enjoyable blogs. They give honest and truthful opinions. Is there something wrong with that?
I guess the way I see blog haters is the way I see gay marriage haters. Blogs ain't going no where. Neither are homosexuals. But haters will eventually die of old age. Yea, that's right. That's the best part about closed-minded people. The younger generation is usually more open-minded, and avg life expectancy in the U.S. goes up to like 78 yrs old. So maybe when the old generation end up in nursing homes, all this haterade will go away.
So my invitation extends not only to David Kamp, but to all mainstream media folks or chefs who think bloggers are imbeciles. My real reaction is to tell y'all to shut the fuck up before you get smacked the fuck up. But seeing as we got a new president coming and there's this climate of hope and change. I'm willing to believe that people out there can be edumacated. We can all just get along, really.
The food porn is from Taste of India. Some passable take-out Indian food on 33rd street by the alley way that connects 33rd to 34th. It's $8 dollars and tasty. I just have no energy to write about it after hearing more about these haters.
Just so that we can add some rainbows and flowers and unicorn love to this post, I present you with chickens and rabbits. Also, puppies. And over at the Midtown Lunch blog, you can check out my post about an all dessert lunch.

i was wondering about that taste of india; i saw it as they were closing. It appeared to be right up Zach's alley since it's selling two very different cuisines. And with all these magazines and newspapers shutting down, blogs are the wave of the future.

I wonder about this David Kamp. He calls himself a humorist and pretty much blogs on his own site. . .just not about food. . .about himself.

Nicely said motherfucker.. and add Pinkberry and the other idiotic stores (Vosges, MarieBelle, etc.) that ban photography because they are afraid that a competitor will steal their designs - never fucking mind that a competitor who can't afford to buy some product and take it home to photograph it is not a real fucking competitor and never mind the millions of dollars of free advertising that bloggers might bring with their photos... I guess these people have never used "The Google" image search...
Rant over. Sorry, I was inspired by yours.

Well said Danny! You just made DavidKamp your bitch! That food porn got me thinking, since Bangkok has a large Indianpopulation (1 word) and some great curryrestaurants, why don't I go stuff my hungrybitchface? OK, so curry and gintonics for lunch it is.
Sincerely,
Opinionated Cupcake

Adding onto Niko's comment, I love when you can't take photos of a display case (cough, cough, Cupcakery in Vegas) due to design paranoia and yet they have their designs on the website. Do they think the competition doesn't have the internet?

But why even bother acknowledging them? They're ignorant, let them die silently. Don't feed the trolls.
I like when people talk to me and find out I have a food blog and then say "I couldn't do that, because who am I to judge a place?" My response is always "Well, who the f* am I to judge a place? If you eat, and you like food, you have an opinion. I like to share my opinion, if people want to listen to it, cool. If not, oh well. I'm not trained to detect a hint of rosemary in anything, but I can tell you I didn't like something." I don't get it. This is the country of freedom of speech! I hate something, and I'm going to proudly say so!!!
*grumbles* I hate David Chang and I AM PROUD OF IT! HIS FOOD IS OVERRATED!!!
