Cake Man Raven is mad delicious
On my way to the Brooklyn Flea last Sunday, I randomly walked by Cake Man Raven. I vacillated between stuffing my face or walk straight to the flea market. Guess which one I picked... First heard about this place three years ago when the Times' Dining Section did a piece on Raven Dennis and he sounded like the perfect fourth uncle that I never had. You know, those terms like 'second-cousin' or 'third-cousin' totally throw me off. Why not just do it in a more simple way? You walk up to your relative, and say, "Yea we tight. (do a secret hand shake)" and based upon how smooth the secret hand shake is, that is how well you know your relative. Right, so I like cake. You like cake. You will like Cake Man Raven.
The Cake Man Raven store in Ft. Greene is simple enough. They sell red velvet cake in two ways; the first is in cupcake form, the second is by the slice. Now everyone knows how much I love cupcakes, but sometimes you just have to go with what is famous. Dance with who brought ya. Oh, speaking of The Big Dance... what was up with those Memphis Tigers huh? Free throws! FREE THROWS! Back to the cakes. Each slice is $6 bucks. For some reason that initially struck me as slightly expensive for the neighborhood, but cake is not that cheap at other places either.
But lemme tell ya, the cake was worth the money. Cake Man Raven gives you a big boy slice, not some little kiddie slice. The cake was fluffy soft, and a perfect amount of sweetness when eaten with the icing. Really, I could eat this everyday, if not for my mom calling me fat. j/k. Actually I ate this in a park outside, and it was kind of cold. Me thinks if you eat it while NOT shivering, you would have a greater experience. Just try it and tell me.
And one last useless thing for this post. Sometimes I like to listen to ESPN Radio and on the Mike Tirico Show, sometimes the co-host is Michelle Tafoya. And I just want to say:
Ms. Tafoya, even though you will never read this, as a fellow cake lover, you would love this cake. Next time you cover a game for the Brooklyn Nets in 20xx, get yourself some of this cake!Cake Man Raven Confectionery

oh my god. that is one delicious slab of sugary goodness. I hate it when red velvet is dry and dense, but this one sounds like a winner. and that cream cheese frosting is what I want to eat by the galloons for my last meal. no joke.

Wow that is RED. Not velvety red, but more like punk rock red. Awesome!
