McDonalds Angus burger
Ok, ok, what is McDonald's doing on here? I am sure the thought of McDonald's burgers alone would be enough to turn some people into vegetarians, but I do not know any vegetarians, so I cannot ask anyone (yea maybe I should get out more. Who does not know at least one vegan or vegetarian in THIS city? word). Last year Mikey Dees came out with new plan to come out with these deluxe looking burgers and they these Angus burgers. Wikipedia tells me that angus is a type of cow. I am here to tell you, all of the cows that the Golden Arches use kind of taste the same.
I got the Angus Deluxe Combo meal and it was $7 bucks. Is it sad that I no longer think that is expensive for a burger? When I was young this only cost... wait, nevermind. You get the burger, which comes in a spacious box, a medium drink which is plenty if you get it without ice, and medium fries, also more than enough given all the food that you are getting. The fries were a bit disappointing. It is weird that you can talk about McDonald style fries (thin, crispy) and the originators of said fries cannot even do it right. Come on Ronald, wipe that big red smile off and get it right for once. Some of the fries were just limp. Boo...
The angus deluxe was okay. Heavy on the mayo and most definitely over-cooked, the burger was kind of dry. The toppings on the burger looked like the freshest toppings ever seen in a fast food restaurant, but I just craved a bit more juiciness with the burger. The price to enjoyment ratio is still hard to beat. Basically you have a middle of the road burger with middle of the road fries, and a big thing of Dr. Pepper (or whatever your drink of choice is). I still favor the Big Mac and chicken nuggets when they have their 6-piece for a dollar campaign. As far as fast food goes, this is pretty good, but if you do not eat fast food, this is not going to change your mind.
Anyway, I was finishing up the first half of my sandwich and trying to figure out what to do with the other half, when a homeless man approached me. There was some mention of Lord Jesus Christ and then he asked for some change. I offered him the other half of the burger and he thanked me and took off. A lot of people probably want to hate on McDonald's and fast food as not real food. The thing is, reality is one's perception of oneself in a given surrounding. If you are asking for change on the street in the winter, a fast food burger is about as real as it gets.

If it were not for the title of your post, I would have never guessed that was a McDonald's burger - you made it look absolutely beautiful!!

It does look pretty good for a McD's burger!
I no longer think $10 is expensive for a burger (without chips and drink). Damn those gourmet burger chains.

Kathy,
I bet that is the first time anyone has said a McDonalds burger looks beautiful! :P
Agnes,
Those gourmet burgers always gets ya. One of the main weekly mags here in the city (time out new york) just came out with a list of 10 burgers and most of them are fairly pricey!
Ang,
yea you probably would not like this burger then. It tastes fine though, the mayo.
