TKettle
Along with ramen, one of the things I really love in cold weather is dumplings. Sometimes I like dumplings in my ramen, but life is not perfect. I cannot ask everyone to make food the way I like it. Supposedly there is some new fro-yo shop that will have coco puffs as a topping for the frozen yogurt. We will see about that. A few days ago I had coco puffs on caramel ice cream. Good stuff. The other day the Village Voice mentioned that TKettle started to offer steamed dumplings.
The offer is six dumplings for $4.25 or ten dumplings for $6.50. The math here is pretty easy to do, you want to go for ten dumplings. The other reason you want to go for ten is because the dumplings from TKettle are not super huge. Bite-size is the word, but each bite is packed with flavor. The filling used is pork and chives and there is ample amount of chives in there; sometimes people skimp on the chives and it just does not taste as good. It is definitely a good dumpling. The article from the Village Voice said, "People have been lining up outside her home for the pork, shrimp, and sea cucumber dumplings, for about a year." I would not line up for these dumplings, but they tasted slightly better than the dollar-for-five places in Chinatown.
TKettle actually is a place for bubble tea, but I could not bring myself to try yet another bubble tea. Basically bubble tea falls into two categories for me: 1. Tastes okay. 2. Tastes gummy. If you get option one, that is fine. If you get option two, you start hate yourself. Maybe it is good, but overall bubble tea is pretty overrated. Just eat more dumplings.

Yes, in most parts of the world, we just call that tea and not bubble tea. So... :)

How about the dumpling's skin? Is the skin hand made or machine made?

Oh that is a good question. I think they were handmade, but they were fairly thin. Really, I have no idea.
