Food in Mouth

Excellent Pork Chop House

There is something to be said about authentic tasting food. On one hand, I am sure fresh tacos from a street stand in Mexico City is delicious, on the other hand, Tex-Mex tastes just fine (to me at least). Some people really prefer authentic, and then some people prefer SeĊor Froggy's. I do not remember what I like really... But back to the issue of food, Excellent Pork Chop House is the bomb. No wait, that is too old school. EPCH be the illest. (My dictionary does not have an entry for 'illest', booooo).

I read up on some chowhound post about how some haters who do not like this place. Losers. I hate haters. Yea you read that right. (I am actually in a good mood today too). Someone even called the pork chop "deep fried". You look at my picture, and you tell me if that is deep fried. Any good Taiwanese person would know authentic pork chops are not deep fried; you might as well turn in your Democracy card and ask Jerry Yang to turn you in to the Chinese secret police. Sheesh. Deep fried!?

The pork chops are thin and seasoned with something that tastes like sa-cha sauce. They come top of a meat sauce and some cabbage. There is also some stuff I do not know what it is called [edit: reader Lilian has chimed in to say that the green stuff is picked mustard greens, so that is what I am going with here], but basically they serve it to scare off white people. Just kidding. I like to mix all that stuff together with my rice and eat it with the pork chop. It is truly excellent. You should go. Right now.

Sorry about this horribly written post. Writing a blog is much more difficult than chefs would have you think. (Although cooking is no doubt difficult as well). Anyway, the reason I did not have time to write a not-as-bad post was because time was spent figuring out how to add RSS to the site. If you do not know what RSS means, you can skip this. If you use a RSS reader or something like iGoogle, you can add my feed to your reader if you want. You can locate the link in the side bar, below the flickr badge. Have a good one folks.

  • "some stuff I do not know what it is called" = pickled vegetable.

  • I guess might be pickled mustard or pickled

    mustard green

  • Ang,

Yea that was what I wanted to say but was not too sure. Thank you.

    Lilian,

Mustard greens? Hmm.. that makes sense. I will go with that then. Thanks!

  • Finally you added rss feed!!!thanks. until now i used to track your posts through flickr feed.

  • Shuuro,

Sure thing! I only had one person tell me he wanted to see RSS, that was why it took a while. Oops!

  • After I scrutinized the photo. I think the pickled vegetable to be pickled mustard(it is also called sour mustard). Simply stir fry pickled mustard or pickled mustard green with garlic, green onion, soy sauce, and a little bite sugar. It makes a good side dish with steam rice

  • Lilian,

I made a minor edit to note that up in the post. Thank you!

  • I was hooked from my first pork chop. And I love the pickled mustard greens about as much as the pork! TOGETHER, THEY BLEND IN DELICIOUSNESSSSSS.

Later I got one of the tofu + seaweed side dish thingies. Also awesome.

  • Robyn,

haha, yes together they do blend in deliciousness. it is so much better to mix it all up and then eat it.

they jelly fish and cucumbers are good too.
