Food in Mouth

Trois Pommes Patisserie

Trois Pommes Patisserie is located in the middle of Park Slope on 260 5th Avenue. I walk by it all the time, and miss it easily because right now there is the ubiquitous blue scaffolding in front of their building. You can barely see it as you walk by on the other side of the street. It is definitely a great spot to stop by on a nice morning when you need some grub. Trois Pommes is owned by former Union Square Cafe pastry chef Emily Isaac, and the space is pretty homey. You walk into the store and right away you see the sweets on display in the front, and the open kitchen in the back. If you are standing there just gazing and salivating at your options, you literally can see someone walk twenty steps from the bakery to place something into the display case. Is that perfect or what?

I went there on a morning when my stomach was empty, therefore I asked the dude behind the counter for a breakfast thing and a dessert thing. He started to talk about what they had and then he mentioned the had a pumpkin cheesecake. Something went off in my head and I knew that had to be my dessert item. Then he mentioned some scones or muffins, but the cinnamon bun thingy caught my eye. It had walnuts on top and it was glazed in.. something delicious. Maybe it was just sugar?

The pumpkin cheesecake really hit the spot. Two great things combined into one, how could it go wrong? Granted, I absolutely love pumpkin pie and sometimes have it for breakfast four or five days in a row in the Fall, but the pumpkin cheesecake was really awesome. The pumpkin flavor was just right. Trois Pommes definitely was the right move on that particular day.

The one thing I had a gripe was that the cheesecake was tiny and it was either four or five bucks. Feels kinda high to me, but cream cheese must not be cheap. You cannot have it all every time, therefore if it tasted that good, so what if it was a little pricy.

  • It seems delicious from the photo. I would like to try it when I go to New York next time.
