Pumpkin Pie is for breakfast
One of my favorite things to eat for breakfast is pie. You take it out of the fridge, grab a fork, and you are set. You do not have to heat it up or use the stove; fast and simple, the way I like it. This past Saturday was the Ohio State vs. Penn State game, and it seemed like a good time to make pie. This was a great idea because if the game went south, there would be pie. If the game went well, I still have pie. Over all, we call that a win-win situation. Sure, I spent Saturday night at home, but there was a reason they invented grocery stores and six-packs.
To make the pie, I looked online and found a butter pie crust recipe and a pumpkin pie recipe. For some odd reason, when I looked at the pie crust recipe, the part that read, "Makes 2 nine-inch deep-dish crusts" mistakenly became, "Makes 4..." So my pie crust was really really thin. And I only spent ONE year in ESL. Would ya look at that.
Actually the game went really well, and Ohio State crushed Penn State. Ohio State football is awesome. Really. I typed that into google and "bucknuts" came back. Whooooooaaa nellllie! (If you do not watch college football or gatorade commercials, you probably just got lost; and the corporate big brother spying regime just saw me visit a site for male deer testicles. Great).
The lesson I took away from this pie experiment was to always bake a pie whenever a football game is on TV, and to always learn how to read numbers, even if they are spelled out in words. On the plus side, it was just pie crust. It could have been worst, I could have been reading instructions for cialis pills.
(I invite you to follow me on Twitter so you can get more of my non-sense in another medium.)

You missed the most important part - was the pie you made good. Is the recipe good enough to try again?

Yes, it was good, but maybe Ang can shed more light on that. I will make it again simply because there are three more pie doughs in the freezer.

HAHAHA. I was wondering why the crust was so thin... and why there are 3 balls of dough in the freezer. the pie filling was good... but you should try using fresh pumpkin next time.

Yea, I probably have to combine the remaining three balls of dough and make two pies out of it.

pumpkin and peacan pies are my favorite deserts.
But I have never made them by myself. Because I am the only one who likes pie in my family. :(

Hi Anna,
Maybe you can do what I do, and that is eat the whole thing by yourself. :)

I think you accidentally made a really healthy pie then - pumpkin pie is relatively good for you (compared to apple or pecan pies) and without crust, it is practically a healthy vegetable side dish!! don't hate it, it's still yum

Caitlin,
You are right, it was a healthy vegetable side dish... except for the whole condensed milk part. I think that just went straight into my arteries. Super good though!
