Goodburger has great fries
Last Friday when Shake Shack's line looked too long, I went to Goodburger on Broadway, right by Union Square. I remembered reading that they had good fries, and that's kind of what tempted me. At $6 dollars for a burger, and nearly $13 dollars for a burger, fries, milk shake combo, you knew goodburger wanted to rip me off.
So I bypassed the shake and spent 8 dollars on a burger and fries. And you know what? It was a wise choice. Well, at the time I was super hungry and Shake Shack had already failed me, therefore anything might have tasted good. When I approached the counter and ordered, they actually asked me for the temperature for the patty. Score one for goodburger as the shack cooks all their patties the same way. Medium rare with the works was ordered and I had to see if they would actually do a medium rare or just over cook it.
They had flat screens on the wall and showed the Yankees infamous gnats game. The burger came after about five minutes, and it came with the works. The size of the burger was perhaps slightly larger than a shack burger. It had nice char on it and the buns were toasted, but I couldn't taste that when I bit into it. All that stuff makes no difference to me anyway. As you can see from the top, they did the order right and my goodburger was indeed cooked medium rare.
French fries were pretty awesome. They were thinner than a shack fry and more like the ones at McDonalds. Portion size could be bigger, but they were tasty and when you want more of something, it meant that it was tasty. A little pricey for fries, but good nonetheless. Overall though, if the line at the shack was equal to the short line at goodburger, I would take the shack every single time. However, waiting thirty minutes for fast food is just stupid, and the enjoyment gained from goodburger is just the same.
