The deal with the devil
The devil is at my door. We strike up a quick chat. It is jovial, really. He asks me about my life. I ask about his work. I notice his pitchfork is really red. It even glows. Quickly the subject moves. We arrive at what we really have to talk about. It is about the deal we have with each other. It's time to renew the contract. The contract is simple. I sell my soul. He gives me a little help here and there. A free donut. Sometimes a 30% off coupon. He asks me if I like the contract. I do. Soul selling is a funny business. Price really does not matter. I could sell it for a lot or a little. In my case, I sold it for a little. Some negotiate for a better price. Others like me prefer to take the first deal.
I signed the new deal. No questions asked. Some people like to compare deals. Alton got this. Adam got that. I think Andrew got the best deal. We all signed a deal though. Why compare? Some take their deals and do one thing. Some take their deals and do another. We all crossed that line. The kettle is as black as the pot. There is no doubt about that. We could all not sign the deal. Spend our time writing about hunger. But no. We all talk about food. Of course my deal pales in comparison. But a deal is a deal. It seems disingenuous now to squabble. People should make the most of their own deals. Instead at times they speak of other folks'. It is disappointing. It is sad. To think I like Alton and Nick too.
Late at night I examine my deal. I could do more with it. Lots could be done to maximize its potential. Today I am far from that though. I question my own examination of others' cat fight. Maybe I should just hustle a little more. Yes. Tomorrow I will hustle a little more.
(I invite you to follow me on Twitter so you can get more of my non-sense in another medium.)

This is the most gloriously cryptic post ever, but the logic is broken. I write crap, but I don't think people listen to me, therefore I get to keep my soul regardless of what I might get back from writing about food. That makes sense to me :)

@Nicholas,
haha, yea my logic is flawed once again. But what I really want to get at is the fact that we might all do stuff for money, for our own good... so there's no point in saying what someone else does for money is less positive. I like Alton's show but he's obviously wrong as fuck here.

Point taken, but then again... his show pretty much went downhill after the Orange Julius episode... sigh
