Spring haiku with poyk but no perservatlves
Haiku time! This week Justin made a haiku on the fridge and voila! It's quite a good haiku. Someone told me haikus are supposed to be about the weather and stuff like that. Poetic shit. Not hot dogs or pizza haikus. Who knew? Since the weather started to get better in New York this weekend, this haiku is really appropo. Spring is great because it means all the vegetables will be in season at some point soon, and there will be lots of outdoor dining going on once it's consistently warm outside. This past weekend in Park Slope, you could already see signs of that
You always expect The Gate to be packed on a nice weekend afternoon, and this past Saturday was no exception. In my four years of living around this neighborhood, I've never actually gone to drink outdoors at The Gate. Everyone seems to really dig it though. They have a good beer selection on tap so it's pretty nice. If only their outdoor patio was bigger...
In other Park Slope developments, Press 195 on 5th avenue is open again after a few weeks of renovation [See here]. They now have Belgian fries! They were $3.50 and a dipping sauce was $0.75. You're looking at $4.60 for fries and one dipping sauce. It's a good snack, but you're paying for it. It's not a bargain by any means. Worth trying? Yes.
They also have a bar in the restaurant. I still haven't had one of their sandwiches yet, so that's next on my list. But tonight I tried to make french fries at home. Man, gotta give people mad props if they make their own fries in the restaurant. That is some labor intensive stuff. Anyone here has tried french fries from scratch at home?
I leave you guys with a great engrish picture. On Sunday Patrick got some jerky in Chinatown, and the bag had a list of different type of jerkies they make. The best one was "Shri MP.W.Poyk Jerky". You knew it was quality because they don't use any "preservatlves" That's just like how we roll here at FIM, with poyk, and no preservalves added.

LOLS @ the engrish! -=D and Yay for the haikus!
