Autumn vegetables haiku
On the eve of Obama's landmark victory in the 2008 U.S. Presidential Election, I feel ecstatic. There's a pop in my step and I wonder if the rest of the country is as jubilant. It's either that or the Halloween candy talking. Judging by the size of my belly, it's probably the latter. All that sugar just makes ya jumpy. You know what happiness leads to? It leads to gorging myself with food. Actually I should try to eat more vegetables, then the gorging would not be such a bad move. This weekend I also ate some tasty things like donuts and pizza and cheesy poofs. I'll try to blog about some of those things this week, but not the cheesy poofs because you probably know what they taste like.
Another good snack this weekend was a mixed fruit tart from Le Pain Quotidien. Translated, the name of the store means, "The daily bread." I didn't have any bread though, just dessert. It was a good tart but probably fruits are not my thing... much prefer to have a chocolate tart. If Hershey's made tarts you could buy like candy bars, my life would be perfect.
And now to jump into something completely random... last weekend Ming, Pat, Jeremy, and I were on the train back home and the topic of mermaids came up (but don't ask why because I don't know..) And then out of nowhere came this question:
"Would you do a reverse mermaid?"
You're wondering, "WTF is a reverse mermaid?" It's where the top half is a fish and the bottom half is a woman. Someone has to have done this for Halloween already?! It's on Urban Dictionary! Assuming the top half of the reverse mermaid can talk, the conversation might go something like this:
mermaid: You know, we might have a problem.
you: What's that?
mermaid: Well, I'm part fish and can only stay out of the water two minutes at a time...
you: Don't you worry, two minutes is more than enough.
See? These are the conversations that make your day. And that my friends, was an episode of 'shit you'll never read on any other food blog in this entire universe'. I only bring you the good stuff. And for the record, no way in hell.

You're certainly correct about 'shit you'll never read on any other food blog in this entire universe'!!
PS: people in other countries are jubilant too. :) :)
