Food in Mouth

chicken-after-egg

Haiku of chicken and egg

Fall means it's time for... eggs! And chickens! No not really. I think haiku creation and spiked apple cider probably do not go hand-in-hand. Janice actually tried to help the matter by telling me about the grammatical mistakes in the haiku. Silly rabbit. Me don't care! Actually that's not necessarily true. Most of the time I can't tell correct grammar from incorrect grammar. Luck for you, apple cider season is going to be in full swing. What do you like to drink in the fall? Any suggestions?

Oh and wait, chicken came first or egg came first?

koalas-march

This past weekend Eric the Teacher and I walked by the New Hong Kong Supermarket. Pretty nice and clean, not overly pungent by Chinese supermarket standards. They even have a basement area, where many snacks are coincidentally priced at $3.99. Unable to resist the urge, we picked up a giant box.

If you've never had these before, you probably didn't grow up in Taiwan. I loved these things when I was a kid. Maybe it was because all those koalas are so cute. Or maybe it was because I was a fatty and snacks were great and chocolate filled koalas were better than vegetables. This is not a perfect junk food like nacho Doritos or cheesy poofs or pork rinds. But koalas are so delicious. Hmmm.. endangered animals... tasty.

  • I love those koala treats too. But I think you can get them in other East Asian countries. oh, and the "haiku" is hilarious (because it makes no sense)!

  • Yay! These things were among my favorite treats to pick up from chinatown.

  • Ang,
You take that back. No one else in the world uses chopsticks. I mean uh.. yes, you can chocolate koalas in most Asian countries.

    Amanda,
They are quiet addictive, aren't they?

  • koala yummies! those things are awesome, we had them all the time when I was growing up here in the states.

great premise on the haiku, can't say I really get the last line...

  • Yea sometimes the haikus just don't make sense... haha

  • LOL Your haiku made me giggle lols

I used to bite the ears off the koalas first, then the head LOLS -=X

  • :) I couldn't tell that was a big box until I noticed the "10 packs!" written on it. Oh, perspective, how you elude me so... BF likes this type of snack, but prefers the Hello Pandas to the Koala's March ones. I have no idea why that is, they taste similar enough to me.

  • I just got back from China, and there were reports that those precise cookies had been made with some of that infamously melanine-tainted milk powder. Just a word of warning...
