Pine State Biscuits and grilling fish

Finally, order is restored here on Food in Mouth. A haiku on a Sunday again! After a few weeks of me being a lazy doof, finally we can have our haiku again. I am excited because I picked up a new pack of magnetic poetry at a book store the other day and there might be more word combinations now. And since there are still quite a few Portland related posts, I will stick one in here just for the hell of it! And this needs to be said: Portland is a serious food town for anyone who likes eating and likes carrying an umbrella. Sure, four consecutive days without rain in early June was unheard of, and I got lucky, but apparently it rains a lot there. Anyway, if you like food and do not mind carrying an umbrella, it is a great place. Now onto the biscuit!

When Jack and I ate at Park Kitchen, we asked our friendly waitress for suggestions on what to do and eat around Portland. One of the places she mentioned was Pine State Biscuits. And that same day I happened to see a picture of the famous biscuit and knew what breakfast had to be the next day.

Just LOOK at that thing! Fresh baked biscuit with a piece of fried chicken breast, thick cut bacon, cheese, and meat gravy! Re-read that sentence!!! This was the breakfast biscuit from heaven. They combine the best of all worlds. Meaty chicken to supply the substance you need from a breakfast biscuit, the crunch from thick cut bacon, and ooey gooey gravy on top of all of that. Add to that an above average (but not super great) biscuit, and you have probably the most amazing breakfast sandwich anywhere. It was awesome.

rose-garden rose

After that huge breakfast I set out to see the rose garden and it was a beautiful day. I took way too many pictures and here are just a couple. Time to eat again...
