Cask ales and haiku
The 1st Manhattan Cask Ale Festival is going on right now at the Chelsea Brewery right now. I actually have no idea what a cask ale is, but beer + festival = win. If you are reading this in time, I encourage you to check it out. It runs through today, March 30, 2008. And since it is Sunday, there is of course the Sunday Haiku. Originally I had a really really inappropriate haiku that was NC-17, but then I decided against it.
My mind is really disjointed this week and the posts really reflect that. Maybe it is because my diet is rich in sugar and high fructose corn syrup. Maybe some leafy greens along with vitamin rich fruits would help. Just maybe. Next week I promise to try harder.
Today for breakfast I went with the Gordon Ramsey's version of scrambled eggs. He advocates cooking scrambled eggs in the same manner one cooks risotto - with constant stirring. It creates a soft, creamy type of scrambled eggs. I actually grew up eating a different kind of scrambled eggs. Sometimes the scrambled eggs would have scallions and it was usually cooked through. Most people probably prefer soft and creamy eggs but I like 'em cooked completely; sometimes the other version is good too.
As you can see from the pictures, the cask ale festival is hoppin'. I would say half the crowd yesterday were people who had golf clubs from Chelsea Piers. There are 25 different types of cask ales and they actually started to run out of a few types by 5:30pm.
The way it worked was that you purchased 'tokens', which were these squares they marked off on a sheet of paper. Each token was just 50 cents or fiddy cents depending on where you are from. Then you had to grab a glass from the bar, either 8oz or 16oz glass. Then there was a separate line to get the beer. Many of the 8oz varieties cost just $3 dollars although some ranged up to $4 dollars. All in all, it was a great place to go and sample all kinds of beers.

I don't like eggs cooked that way (I was thinking that when you were cooking them). Or maybe I just screw them up because they always end up tasting pasty. I like the big curds of egg.

Yea, when they are soft, I really like it with toast. Otherwise it is just soft eggs. haha.

I am really curious as to what the NC-17 haiku was...
