All about bread like a sesame seed
My friend Jeremy has a man-crush on the rapper Lil Wayne, and he tipped me off about an awesome lyric. I will share that line after the jump, but the line was about bread and it made me think about the no-knead bread recipe that was in the New York Times a year ago. Once again, my attempt at cooking was thwarted by my shoddy reading skills. I only baked the bread with the lid on for 15 to 20 minutes instead of the instructed 30 minutes. It is a wonder that I can even use a computer. Regardless, I ate the entire thing in about two days. Bread does that to ya.
I got the recipe, feed - I'm all about my bread - like a sesame seed.
Actually I think Lil Wayne is talking about dough, aka money, and not actual bread. But I am talking about actual bread. Bread is delicious. It is actually best when it comes out of the oven. Hot and crusty is the word, and man, even when you screw up the crust tastes really good. The part that kind of tripped me up was the instant yeast part, because the only yeast at my grocery store is this thing that comes in a packet. Inside the packet there are little pebbles of yeast and the directions say add warm water. The dough did rise during the 12 hours rising period, therefore it probably worked.
I plan to try this again, and maybe use the web to find ways to make variations of the bread. Anyway, this is pre-Thanksgiving weekend, and all around the city people are doing pre-turkey day meals with their friends. My job is to make mashed potatoes, and you should stay tuned to see how I screw that up.

Nice, I am glad to hear that you can still read this on a mobile device. I tried to make a sweet potato pie yesterday.

Are you saying that the dough takes 12 hours to raise by instant yeast? Or is it a type error, it actually takes 12 minutes to raise?

Oh, it's a funny joke. It doesn't take 12 hours to raise a dough but 12 minutes is way to less to raise a dough.
