Atlantic Antic 2007
The Atlantic Antic was yesterday, September 30, 2007. It was a great day to take a stroll and take pictures, so I did just that. Here is your photographic recap of antic 2007 in Brooklyn Heights.
With every street fair, you get your share of random stuff. Like an old lady sitting next to a bajillion baskets. And also you get lip-sync artists who sing the oldies really well. And of course you get huge huge smokers on the sidewalk. Add in the worst collapse ever in baseball by the New York Mets and you have your typical fall New York Day.
I actually missed out on breakfast and lunch yesterday. It was about 2pm when I passed by the ice cream stand. Let's do some simple math. first scoop costs me $4 dollars and the second scoop costs me $1 more. Hmmm... the move is two scoops. Chocolate. It was delicious and wholly satisfying. You could taste the chocolate and the ice cream was nice and creamy. My stomach was completely empty at the time so maybe that skewed my judgment.
And in front of one church that was a woman singing about iced tea. "Come get your iced tea." or "Where's your daddy, go tell him to buy you some iced tea so you can spill it on his hands and get them all sticky."
I tried to take a picture of the crowd and one woman threw her hands up. And then she was apologetic and said to me:
"I'm sorry. Hey Chinese, go ahead and take your picture."
Actually lady, I like that picture just fine, and now you're on the internets on a blog that no one reads. Congratulations. Gold star for you.
Soon after that I hit the jackpot. Pig. It was a $7 dollar sandwich, but all you had to do was ask and they would give you crackling on top of your sandwich at no extra cost. How great is that? Sure, later that night I had to consume foods that had vitamins and fiber and all that junk doctors try to fill your brain with, but at that moment, it was all about the pig. And now you shall be inundated with pictures of meaty goodness.
I finished up the day with one disappointing item, spinach pie and one extraordinary item, grilled sardines. Sardines are mostly just okay, but how many times have you seen it served up in a street fair? At $2 dollars, it was a decent deal. The spinach pie was even cheaper than that but it was kind of sour. Is spinach pie supposed to be sour?
